About Me

I Remember

I remember

running through the trenches,

watching the bombs come

raining over.

I remember

saying good-bye to my wife and kids.

I remember wishing to be home.

I remember getting shot

and barely surviving.

I remember the pain and horror

and not surviving the next shot.

Now I lay under a cross in France

knowing I will never see that horror again.
